  • in discussions with workers and their representatives. 
  • PPE, which may be contaminated by materials hazardous to health, should not be washed, cleaned pr kept at workers’ homes.
  • Accommodation for clothing should be provided when protective clothing is required to be used.
  • changing facilities should be so situated and designed to prevent the spread of contamination 
  • proper maintenance and use of PPE, including appropriate behavior of the user 
  • PPE itself may produce uncomfortable, unhealthy or unsafe working conditions ;
  • only the user is protected, while others coming into the environment continue to be exposed ;
  • PPE can provide a false sense of security, in particular when it is not properly used 
  • PPE may introduce additional hazards to the workforce.

Head protection :

  • Safety helmets or hard hats to protect the head from injury due to falling or flying objects, or due to striking against objects or structures. Hand and foot protection :

  • heat-resistant glove for handling hot objects, and rubber, synthetic or PVC gloves handling acids, alkalis, various types of oil, solvents, and chemicals. 
  • Footwear of an appropriate type should be employed in workplaces where there are chances of injury from falling or crushing or crushing objects, hot or hazardous substances, sharp-edged tools or nails, and slippery wet surfaces. Appropriate safety footwear, such as shoes and boots should have firm, slip-resistant soles. sandals and similar footwear should not be allowed.

Respiratory protective equipment :

  • Respiratory protective equipment, suitable for the particular environment, should be used when workers cannot be protected against airborne dust, fumes, vapors, or gases by ventilation or other means. Appropriate respiratory protective equipment should be provided for work in conditions where there is a risk of a low level of oxygen or exposure to poisonous, dangerous or irritating fumes, dust, or gases.

Hearing protection:

  • workers who by the nature of their duties are exposed to high levels of noise should be provided with and should wear ear protectors.
